New York Life Foundation

The New York Life Foundation has supported Boys & Girls Clubs of America for nearly a decade, beginning in 1998 when The Foundation helped establish 10 learning centers at Clubs in New York City. These were the first centers in the nation to be developed on Boys & Girls Clubs of America's Education Enhancement Program (EEP) model. Independent evaluation involving teachers, students and schools in pilot program sites determined that EEP participants increased their grade point averages by 12 points, completed 81 percent more homework, and significantly improved their scores in science and math.

Recognizing the value of education in our young people's lives, The New York Life Foundation provided a second grant of more than $1 million to establish an additional 15 centers in Clubs across the country. This three-year grant began in 2000, benefiting more than 2,500 young men and women in its first two years. In 2003, The Foundation provided a third grant to fund 10 additional New York Life Learning Centers at Clubs across the country.
